If you’re looking to buy the best present or treat yourself to one you cant go wrong with their awesome chocolate collection. I know its hard to go wrong with chocolates ever but Hotel Chocolat sets a different bar (pun intended) for chocolates all together! Dark, Milk, White, Hot, Cold, Gooey, Soft, nutty, fruity, alcoholic you name it and they have it! I am not a dark chocolate fan by any standard but the dark chocolate here will blow your mind off (it definitely blew mine). It is, after all, what this delicious shop does best. Just don’t leave without picking up some chocolates too. Prices seemed to vary at around the £ 3 mark, which is about what you’d expect to pay, so I’d say it’s pretty reasonable. Especially when Hotel Chocolat is majorly air conditioned to stop the chocolate melting… mmm, bliss. They have a few difficult-to-sit-on seats if you want to sit in store and enjoy your treats, and considering the view outside is pretty good, very eclectic and green, it can be a pleasant way to while away half an hour. Just that hint of chocolate to give you the flavour but not so much that it’s overload and you end up feeling warm and full instead of refreshed and craving chocolate. My boyfriend HATED it, apparently he couldn’t taste any ginger and cold watered down chocolate isn’t his bag, but if you’re a chocaholic like me, it was perfect. We ordered the earl grey and lemon iced drink, which had that familiar dry earl grey taste with refreshing lemon, perfect for the heatwave we seem to be having right now, and the chocolate and ginger drink. Now, I spend a lot of time in chocolate shops and I’m familiar with Thornton’s Cafes, but this was somethin’ else entirely! Not only do they do hot chocolates and various treats and goodies, but they also have a Summer Iced Menu especially for the hot weather and it is YUM.

The Monmouth store does a LOT of chocolate, it doesn’t disappoint on that score, but more than that, it does pastries and drinks too. I must have walked past two of these on my way from Charing X but I’m glad I stopped in at this one.
